The Uses and Abuses of UI Design Patterns: MVC, MVP, MVVM

Synopsis: Given the hype around UI Design Patterns combined with the scarcity of real-world examples, it can be hard to evaluate whether you need them and how best to use them. This presentation will attempt to clear up the differences between the various patterns and help you decide when and which patterns are appropriate for the application you are building, whether it is a WinForm application, a web app, a WPF app or a Silverlight app.

IIS Forum

Please forgive me.  I found your URL from Matt Ranlett and I need to ask a question.  I hope you can point me in the right direction.

I am a SQL DBA and am familiar with AtlantaMDF.  However, I find myself needing to as an IIS question and do not know which forum I should use.  When you have a moment, please point me to the appropriate Google Group for IIS security questions.

I think my question is fairly simple.  See below.

I found one server running SQL Server, IIS and an application.  I spoke with the developer and suggested we split things up a bit so everything is not running from a single C: drive.  The developer moved the IIS and application to a separate C: drive (not bad for a start).  Initially, the application would not authenticate to the database so we asked our domain administrator to create a group.  Being the DBA, I granted this domain group access to the database.  Now the developer fought with it enough to get IIS to authenticate to SQL Server using the newly created group.  Now the developer is trying to use their local web browser on a third, separate C: drive and is again experiencing difficulty getting Windows Authentication to work.  Is there a web site that addresses security and Windows Authentication in such a way that a simple DBA can read and understand what I need to do?  I no longer believe this is a database permission problem but feel obligated to help (we're all in this together).  Any help or Best Practices you can offer is most appreciated.

Many thanks.
